De Kan Hoeve
De Veenhoop, Friesland
We, Charlotte and Louis Oudshoorn, have been living in this beautiful place since 2006. We would like to give our guests the opportunity to get to know and explore this beautiful, quiet area. Through beautiful cycling and walking routes. De Kan Hoeve is located in the central triangle of Friesland: Drachten, Leeuwarden and Heerenveen. We have made a spacious B&B with 4 spacious rooms in the former Friesian stable. Each room has its own bathroom, sitting area and a high table to work on. Our B&B guests can use the kitchen to prepare their own food in the afternoon or evening.

For the campers among us, we also have a mini campsite with 25 places, including 3 camper spots. The peaceful and quiet Frisian land is very suitable for a few days to relax. The area is ideal for beautiful walks and cycling trips. For water sports enthusiasts there is a sailing school nearby where you can rent a boat. For the little ones among us there is the indoor playground Ballorig, De Naturij and Aqua Zoo. The former farm is named after Johannes Benedictus Kan, between 1926 and 1929 Minister of the Interior and Agriculture in the first De Geer cabinet. He was the father of the well-known grand artist Wim Kan. The former farm was built in 1930 by order of NV Ontginningsmaatschappij De Drie Provinciën, as a job creation project to combat high unemployment, together with Jhr. Mr. Ch. CM Ruys de Beerenbrouck Hoeve. The former farm is a municipal monument.
